The World's Most Comfortable Dress Is Now a Major Trend

Some of Rihanna's going-out outfits aren't always try-this-at-home kind of fare, but after she swapped her sensational Comme des Garçons Met Gala look for her after-party ensemble—a kitschy-cool combo of a silk blouse-cum-minidress with ostrich feathers sprouting from the cuffs accessorized with diamanté sunglasses, two layers of snakeskin belts, and tufted satin sandals—we couldn't help but wonder if we could pull that off.

Well, maybe not the full outfit (our budgets also look a little different from Ri's) but at least the spirit of it, with a fancy-yet-comfy dress that's just a few steps away from wearing pajamas to a party.

And it turns out, the pop star isn't the only one we can look to for inspiration on this front: boudoir-inspired robe dresses are having a moment with celebs this spring, with Candice Huffine choosing a mini from Attico, the luxe line from street-style stars Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini, for Vogue's pre-Met party, and Kiernan Shipka opting for a hooded velvet version for Dior's Cruise show in Los Angeles.

Even better? The pieces are more practical than they may seem at first glance since most of them can be worn as a dress or left undone over a tank and jeans as a lightweight jacket. So, who wants to invite us to a cocktail party? We know what we'll be wearing.

On Rihanna: Prada dress; Gucci 53MM Crystal Embellished Square Sunglasses ($965); Pat Areias belts; Prada Feather-Trimmed Satin Mules ($750).

If you're going to wear a feather-trimmed nightshirt as a minidress, you might as well go hard on the OTT accessories, too.

On Candice Huffine: Attico Lauren Satin-Appliqued Crepe Mini Wrap Dress ($1885).

The patent boots and side-swept hair complement the '80s vibe of this robe dress (if you can't tell, that's a satin panther embroidered on the side).

Tracee Ellis Ross has been killing it on the red carpet lately, and this patchwork robe dress—paired with statement earrings and pointy metallic pumps—is no exception.
