Buyers’ Diary: The Hero Pieces from Fashion Week Australia
Fashion Week Australia is over for another year, but now comes the time to dissect the trends, comb through the collections, and figure out what our new season wardrobe looks like. To help us on this sartorial journey, we enlisted the help of Sara Donaldson and Georgia Martin, buyers behind the soon-to-be-launched premium online shopping destination, The UNDONE.
Keep scrolling to discover what Donaldson and Martin have put together as their top looks from the Resort 17 collections and why they love each one, so you can get in early and start planning what your summer capsule wardrobe looks like.
"Technically two pieces, but together they are better. We both nudged each other when this look came down the runway. It’s both classic and cool."
"We got to meet the designer from this amazing namesake jewellery brand at the Catinella (luxury PR and sales agency) showings and her new pieces are beautiful. We loved this pair and having already bought her previous collection to drop online in July they got us excited all over again."
"Another example of a classic piece, elevated with a twist. This white deconstructed skirt is interesting, wearable, and will turn a simple T-shirt into an exciting outfit."
"Long and loose ties have featured in a lot of the collections we saw at Fashion Week Australia, but this dress makes them subtle, and with any trend, subtlety is key for us."
"Honestly we want everything from Albus Lumen’s Resort 17 collection. Combined with the staging from MCM House, holistically this presentation really raised the bar. If we had to pick one piece we would unanimously say the white ribbed wrap skirt. It’s an easy piece to wear, and the ribbed detail is very much a trend we have seen come through."
"Contrast black and white stitching grabs our attention at the moment, and this is another easy piece for the warmer months that is still sophisticated."
"This is such a cool piece, and layered over long pants is an interesting way to style it during summer. It’s not an obvious choice for us, but it always nice when you find a piece in a collection that you either weren’t looking for or didn’t expect—it’s what this whole process is about and keeps everything fresh."
"The new cuts and colours of Matteau Swim made us excited for summer even though we are just coming into winter. They are flattering, chic, and practical."
