OUT: Colored Denim
"92% of all jeans currently on the market are in traditional shades of blue, black, grey or white," Smith says. "Skinny jeans in non-traditional denim colours have fallen out of favour, and those that are on the market are selling slowly despite their high discounts."
IN: Embellished and Embroidered
"There's been a 480% increase in arrivals of embroidered jeans so far this year, compared to last year," Smith says.
OUT: Wedge Heels
"New arrivals of wedge heeled sandals are down by 9% this year, compared to last," Smith says.
"Meanwhile, sliders are selling out in an average of just 23 days. Bows, ruffles and applique details are selling especially well."
OUT: Fluffy Bag Charms
"New arrivals of bag charms are down by 5% so far this year. Although the majority of styles are within the luxury and premium segments, the average price has dropped from $282 to $250," Smith says.
IN: Tiny Purses
"Miniature bag styles are selling out in an average of 22 days."
"61% of this year's arrivals are already reduced, by an average of 50% off. The trend has now saturated the value market—with a quarter or all bodycon styles selling in this segment—meaning it no longer has the kudos of being a luxury trend," Smith says.
IN: Ruffled Dresses
"New arrivals of ruffled and flounced dresses are up 51% so far this year," Smith says. "The average price has also grown by 12% to $90. Bold, one-coloured styles are performing well, as are one-shouldered or strapless shapes."
OUT: Slip-on Styles
"Almost half of this year's new arrivals are already discounted, with an average price drop of 41% off. The shape isn't selling fast either—taking an average of 123 days to sell out," Smith says.
IN: Embellished & Embroidered
"More is more! New arrivals of embroidered, embellished and bejeweled sneakers are up by 87% so far this year compared to last," Smith says. "This taps into the consumer's wish to have a customised product, albeit ready-made!"
