As a practical approach to city living, flats are a necessity. Running for the bus or taking a stroll at lunch is much more pleasant (read: not excruciating) when you have comfortable shoes on. It was nothing but sheer relief when sneakers made their way back in the trend loop. But another shoe that needs to enter your daily wardrobe are the unisex brogues. Like sneakers, the classic Oxford flats can be paired with not only the more casual of wardrobe pieces but our fancy ones, too.

We can all blame Agyness Deyn for the popularity of the shoe back in 2008, and more recently, Caroline de Maigret is wearing brogues as her staple along with masculine baggy trousers and black cigarette pants. Brands Church’s and Robert Clergerie are emblematic of the style and both are renowned for quality and craftsmanship (loved by French and Italian girls alike).
