Why the Fashion World Is Talking About Zimmermann Today
We could not be more proud to be Australian, especially when it comes to the designers that show on international fashion circuits. Just this morning, Zimmermann stole the show with an incredible 35-piece collection featuring pieces that will instantly make you want to turn elevated floral hippie or go back in time to be a ’70s surfer chick.
Late last week, Tome also made their mark with covetable beachside pieces, and the weekend saw Dion Lee show for the seventh time in New York, with a whopping show of 43 looks. There’s a reason why Australian designers choose to leave the country and show in another city, and it comes down to their collections and their brand being synonymous with the look and feel of the Big Apple. It can often times be the turning point of their fashion careers, according to the most-celebrated designers. Chloe Hill of our INF / Network shot exclusively for Cool Pretty Cool, and we’ve got the lowdown on each designer’s collection.

No one does floral like Zimmermann. The inspiration behind this collection being all things suburban ’60s and ’70s is nostalgic, sexy, and romantic. Think elevated hippie girl.
If you’re a fan of classic shirting, pastel shades, and fundamentally pretty pieces, Tome will not disappoint. The retro candy-coloured stripes have us dreaming of cool-girl layering with a side of classic white tennis shoes.
It’s hard not to love the incredible attention to design detail Dion Lee has on this collection. Masculine tailoring, contrast stitching, electric pleating, and architectural knots are just a few of the design features that were a stand-out.
