20- and 60-Year-Olds Are Obsessed With These Boots
Anine Bing wasn't necessarily surprised when she realised that her Charlie Boots ($922) were, by far, one of the most popular items of her eponymous line. As we're well aware, the studded pairs have been a favourite shoe style for years now. But since the L.A. brand is about to turn five years old, it's a perfect time to reflect on its cult status. The occasion also calls for a big celebration, and that’s where it gets truly exciting.
Having just kicked off #AroundTheWorldInANINEBING, the hashtag for her new campaign, the social media star and designer is starting on a 12-month initiative to put you, the IRL Anine Bing fans, in the spotlight. "I'm looking forward to getting to know my brand through their unique lens and to see what their world looks like," Bing tells us of her customers. Specifically, Bing will select one person per month by scouting the hashtag on Instagram, and fly to whichever corner of the globe the lucky participants live in to photograph them as the faces of her new campaign—no professional modelling skills necessary.
"For me, it's all about their unique personality and how they style the brand differently,” says Bing about her casting lens, "and who offer a cool and new perspective on the brand." Of course, the appeal of the West Coast label is far-reaching, and Bing tells us that she's excited her fans are just as varied. "What I love the most about all these pictures is to see the diversity amongst the women. I've seen a 60-year-old woman in London wearing the same Charlie boot as a 20-year-old in L.A. That shared sense of chic is what makes the brand so inclusive," she explains.
Scroll down to see the designer's Instagram post from the campaign and the two distinct boot ensembles in question. Also, be sure to post and hashtag your own looks with #AroundTheWorldInANINEBING for a chance to work with her.
A 60-something style star pairs her Charlie boots with skinny jeans, a leather jacket, and a big, cosy, printed scarf.
A 20-something takes a similar approach—leave the scarf; add sunnies.
