We the People Style

We’re so close to summer holidays it’s not funny—and all we can think about is replacing work-wear with swimsuits, summer dresses and flat sandals. Following The Iconic,'s seriously impressive swim show, we've had swimsuit shopping front of mind, deciding what trends we'll splurge on first.

During The Iconic's runway, we polled our readers (you) on Instagram Stories, to see if you prefer one pieces, or bikinis. Interestingly, 72% of our readers prefer one-pieces over bikinis for now. Which leads us to think, this will be the most popular style we see on the sand this summer.

We reached out to chief category management officer at The Iconic, Mareile Osthus, to see what the major swimwear trends will be in 2018. It's hard to believe but we’re so close to the holiday break and while Christmas gift shopping is probably a high priority right now, treating yourself should be, too.

Keep scrolling to read what Mareile recommends you shop for summer, and peep the swimwear on our wish lists.

"It's all about textures for women's swimwear. Different materials such as ribbed, velvet, and shirred is the way to go. If you can't go past a print, gingham is one of the few prints we're seeing a lot of."—Mareile Osthus

Hunza G Greta Bow-Embellished Seersucker Swimsuit ($332)

Hunza G create ribbed swimwear that proves to be ultra flattering and sculpting against curves. We love the side detail on this red-hot swimsuit.

Triangl Alessia Top & Bottom ($97)

Is there anything better than white against bronzed skin?

Lioness The Naomi Bikini Set ($79)

The hardest part is choosing between the red, black, or green gingham print.

“Colour blocks are in this summer—especially red and yellow. Add some white accessories and you're good to go.”—Osthus

Two Six Swim Holiday Gift Set Sunrise ($120)

The one-shoulder bikini style is giving us major '90s model vibes.

Palm Swim Ivy Bodysuit ($190)

The backless feature makes this a perfect beach-to-bar piece. Just throw on a skirt and some sandals.

Bec & Bridge Colette One-Piece ($210)

Retro stripes are equally flattering and stylish.

“The eighties and nineties are back, and so are cheeky bottoms. The smaller the better! If you're not into a cheeky bottom, try high waisted. These are the two go to bottom shapes for summer.”—Osthus

Assembly Label Linda Pants ($60)

Invest in basics with a high cut black brief.

Nookie Beach Oasis High Rise Briefs ($69)

Fresh terracotta works well with a summer tan.

Bond-Eye The Hunter ($95)

These bikinis have a ribbed texture, making the cheeky cut a little more bearable (and flattering).
