PSA: Party Season Dressing Takes Its Inspiration From Studio 54

by Lara Burnell

"There is a strong '70s influence this season and my advice is to go full throttle and embrace a maximalist look. Channel a disco-inspired vibe that wouldn’t feel out of place at Studio 54 by layering a mash-up of diamanté, satin, feather and chainmail textures across jumpsuits, sequin flared trousers, velvet tuxedos, lamé blouses and statement accessories."—Mo Riach.

Shop Maximalism:

Topshop Gold Foil Halter Neck Jumpsuit ($81)

Mango Sequins Trousers ($100)

Attico Baby Whips Snake Sandal ( $1036 ) ($725)

Attico Rosie Striped Sequined Gauze Clutch ($442)

"In contrast to maximalism, going-out camis and mesh tees nod to the ‘90s and feel very street style. Wear something you feel comfortable in. If mini-dresses and thigh-high boots push you a little too far out of your comfort zone, add a longline, tailored blazer to your look."—Mo Riach.

"Sharp shoulders, bustiers and draping are reminiscent of power dressing from the ‘80s. Another major trend for party season. You cant go wrong with a little black party dress, it’s an investment piece that will see you throughout the year."—Mo Riach.
